AI Summit San Francisco 2026: What Actually Happened to This Event

TL;DR: AI Summit San Francisco 2026 does not exist. Informa’s `theaisummit.com/sanfrancisco/` URL has been a permanent 301 redirect since at least 2020, and the series’ current 2026-2027 lineup lists no San Francisco edition. The last verified run was September 25-26, 2019 at the Palace of Fine Arts. The event was renamed AI Summit Silicon Valley in 2020, then vanished from Informa’s roster within a few years. The “June 9-11, 2026” date circulating on aggregator sites is bot noise, most likely confused with Databricks’ Data + AI Summit (which really did run June 15-18, 2026 at Moscone).

I verify AI event dates the same way I verify AI tool pricing: primary sources, not directory sites. When I went to confirm the June 9-11, 2026 date on this page, I found something more basic wrong. The event has not run in San Francisco under this name since 2019. So this page is not a “should you attend” guide. It is a correction, with the receipts.

What AI Summit San Francisco used to be

AI Summit San Francisco was the founding U.S. edition of a global series Informa launched through its Knect365 events arm in the mid-2010s. The programming leaned on named C-suite speakers, not peer-reviewed papers, closer in shape to NVIDIA GTC than to an academic conference. Archived editions of the event’s own page, preserved by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, describe it as “the world’s first and largest conference to look at the practical implications of AI for enterprise organisations.” Confirmed keynotes across its run included Beth Smith (then GM of Watson AI at IBM), Tony Jebara (Director of ML Research at Netflix), and Nav Kesher (Head of Data Science at Facebook).

The event ran annually from around 2015 through 2019 and settled at the Palace of Fine Arts for its final years. AI Business’s own coverage, published November 2018, put the 2018 edition at “over 200 speakers and 4,000 delegates” (checked 2026-08-24, aibusiness.com), and previewed the “flagship 2019 event” for September 25-26, 2019. September 2019 is the last edition anyone can independently verify under this name.

What Informa did after 2019

I dug into this one because the dates were not the actual problem. In November 2020, AI Business, owned by the same company that runs the AI Summit series, published an article titled “AI Summit Silicon Valley joins forces with IoT World”. The piece states plainly: “This will be the 8th annual IoT World, and the 6th annual AI Summit Silicon Valley (previously known as AI Summit San Francisco).” The San Francisco edition was not cancelled outright. Informa renamed it, folded it into a combined event with IoT World, and moved it to the Santa Clara Convention Center for a November 2021 hybrid run.

That rebranded Silicon Valley edition has since also dropped out of Informa’s roster. The current AI Summit series page organizes 2026 and 2027 under “Flagship Events” (London, New York) and “Satellite Events” (Singapore, Black Hat USA, Australia). No San Francisco listing. No Silicon Valley listing. No hiatus note. No planned return. If Informa intended to bring the event back, this is the page where the announcement would appear.

I pulled the redirect history for `theaisummit.com/sanfrancisco/` from the Wayback Machine CDX index, the most boring but most reliable way to check this kind of thing. The URL served a real event page with status 200 through early 2019. From 2019 onward, every capture returns a 301, permanent, held for roughly six years (checked 2026-08-24, web.archive.org). A URL that has redirected away from its own content for six straight years is not “between editions.” It is retired.

Where the “June 9-11, 2026” date came from

Multiple event-aggregator social accounts repeat an identical phrase: “AI Summit San Francisco 2026. June 9-11, 2026, San Francisco, CA, USA… Moscone West.” That exact phrasing across unrelated accounts is the signature of aggregator bots re-publishing one wrong data point, not independent reporting.

Tracing the real Moscone-area AI events in June 2026 surfaces the likely source of the mix-up. Databricks’ Data + AI Summit 2026 ran June 15-18, 2026 across Moscone North, West, and South. Three days off, same venue complex, similar name. That is a plausible if sloppy origin for the confusion baked into this page’s ACF field.

A separate marketing-agency roundup lists “AI Summit San Francisco 2026” with a third, conflicting date: March 18-20, 2026 at “Moscone Center.” Neither date traces to anything Informa has published, and the fact that they contradict each other tells you neither is authoritative.

One popular event directory currently lists “AI Summit San Francisco” as a July 2026 event at the Palace of Fine Arts organized by a group called GPTDAO. That same listing’s description text talks about a different event, GenAI Summit San Francisco, at Moscone. The user reviews on the listing date to September 2019. The directory quietly re-used an old, orphaned 2019 listing for an unrelated 2026 event with similar branding. None of it is Informa’s series.

What actually ran in San Francisco AI in 2026

Databricks Data + AI Summit 2026 is the real large-scale event closest to the timeframe. It ran June 15-18, 2026 across Moscone North, West, and South (checked 2026-08-24, databricks.com/dataaisummit), with 800+ sessions on lakehouse architecture, ML, and open-source data tooling. GenAI Summit San Francisco is a smaller separately organized event running annually since 2023-2024, most recently at mid-July 2026 dates near Moscone. Its branding is close enough to “AI Summit San Francisco” that it shows up in the same searches, but it runs at a much smaller scale and has no organizer overlap with Informa or Databricks.

Where Informa’s AI Summit series actually lives now

Two flagships. The AI Summit London runs 10-11 June 2026 at Tobacco Dock (and 9-10 June 2027). With San Francisco off the table, London is the closest thing left to the original event’s scale and enterprise-AI focus. Three satellites. AI Summit Singapore 2027 runs 19-21 May 2027 at Singapore Expo alongside ATx Enterprise. The AI Summit at Black Hat USA runs 4 August 2026 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas as an add-on track. AI Summit Australia 2026 runs 7-9 September 2026 at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

None of these five events are in San Francisco. Nothing in Informa’s current marketing suggests that is changing for 2027.

What to do with a page that turned out to be a ghost

If you were trying to attend the historical, Informa-run AI Summit San Francisco (the one with IBM, Netflix, and Facebook execs on stage in 2018 and 2019), that event does not exist under any name you can register for now. The honest move is to follow the same organizer’s same enterprise-AI positioning to London or New York.

If you were trying to find a large AI conference in San Francisco specifically in June 2026, you were very likely thinking of Databricks Data + AI Summit. Genuinely major event, run by a different company, agenda is data engineering and ML infrastructure rather than the C-suite programming the old AI Summit ran. Worth attending or watching replays for if your work touches the data and ML stack. Not a substitute for what the old event covered.

If you got here from a listicle or a bot-generated event calendar naming “AI Summit San Francisco 2026” with a specific date, that source was wrong. Given how many conflicting dates I found for the same non-existent event, I would treat every other date on that source with real skepticism. The broader signal: AI event dates on social aggregators and directory sites right now are frequently wrong, recycled, or attached to the wrong event. Check the organizer’s own page before you book anything.
