Overchat AI Review 2026: Free Chat Tested, Pricing Checked

Tested	Logged-out tests on 2026-09-25: the free chat page answered 3 of 3 checkable questions, then reported a 2021 or 2023 training cutoff depending on the session. The main web app asked me to sign up after one message.
Verdict	Use the free chat for quick questions. Skip Pro until the site agrees on one price and one billing period, and confirm the interval at checkout if you buy anyway.

I tested Overchat AI on 2026-09-25 without creating an account, then checked its pricing page, FAQ, About page, terms, privacy policy, refund policy, App Store listing and Trustpilot profile against each other. I did not pay for Pro, so what I say about paid models comes from Overchat’s own pages, and where those pages disagree, I show both versions.

The app behind overchat.ai, and the two companies named on it

Overchat AI is a subscription app that puts chat models, image models and video models behind one login. You pick GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek or another model for chat, and models like Nano Banana, Seedream, Flux, Kling and Seedance for images and video.

Around the chat sits a large catalogue of single-purpose tools. The web app groups them under Image (63), Video (13), Text (11), Docs (7) and Homework, and they range from ChatPDF and a paystub analyzer to a looksmax face scan, an AI kissing video generator and a tarot reading.

The company details are split across two entities:

• The website names Boiler Labs FZ-LLC, registration 0000004078035, in the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone, UAE.
• The iOS App Store listing names SpaceshipIntelligence OU as the seller.

Overchat runs on the web, iOS and Android. The FAQ says a macOS version exists for Apple Silicon, while the homepage lists desktop as “soon”. The App Store resolves it: the Mac version is the iPhone app, marked “Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.”

Is Overchat AI free?

Yes, with limits, but Overchat’s pages give three different sizes for the free allowance:

• Pricing page: “Explore 4 Messages per Day” in the header, and “20 per day” credits in the plan card.
• FAQ: “100 credits per day”.
• Free AI Chat page: “no limits or sign-up required”, “Unlimited Free AI Chat”, then in its own FAQ, stars that run out and recharge after 24 hours.

The pricing card also marks “Unlimited AI Chat” as not included on the free plan.

Where you type matters more than any of those numbers. The Free AI Chat page at overchat.ai/chat/best-free-ai-chat answered me without an account. The main web app at overchat.ai/web did not: my first message opened a log-in wall.

That wall claims “1M+ Users”. The homepage, FAQ and About page all say 350,000+.

My logged-out test of the free chat

I ran the same prompts on the Free AI Chat page twice on 2026-09-25, once in the desktop app’s browser and once in a clean headless browser, with no account either time. The page is titled “Chat With GPT, Claude & Gemini”, but it has no model picker: the only option in the box is “Best Free AI Chat”.

A model’s description of itself is not proof of what it is, so I would not name the model from this. What the answers do show is that the free widget is not running the GPT-5.x or GPT-6 models the rest of the site advertises. A model that believes GPT-4 is the newest OpenAI release is at least two generations behind them.

Two other things showed up in the same frame. An ad for a different app, Atomic Chat, appeared under the answer, on a page that promises “No ads, no distractions”. And the badges below the chat claim 4.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot, which is not the figure Trustpilot shows (more on that below).

For a quick sum or a rewrite, the free chat did the job. For anything where the model version matters, you cannot tell what you are getting.

How much does Overchat AI cost?

Overchat sells one paid plan, Pro Access, and each page that mentions it quotes the price differently.

The yearly figures nearly agree: $1.15 a week is $59.80 a year. The $14.99 figure is the problem. It is labelled monthly on two pages and weekly on two. Billed weekly, it would come to about $779 a year, thirteen times the annual plan. The About page’s own “81% cheaper than $80 a month” claim only works out if $14.99 is monthly, which suggests the weekly label is the error, but I could not confirm the billing period without starting a checkout.

Some tools also charge per use. A Trustpilot reviewer on 3 September 2026 wrote that they paid “the one time $2.99” to add a person to a photo. On mobile, payments run through the App Store and Google Play; on the web, cards and PayPal.

The refund policy, effective 27 March 2026, is strict:

• A refund needs zero usage. Sending one message, generating one output or spending any credit counts as using the service, and “used” purchases are not refunded.
• The window is 14 days, and only for purchases that were never used.
• Buying waives the EU 14-day withdrawal right under Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU, as the policy words it.
• Subscriptions renew automatically, and cancelling only stops future charges.
• Unused credits are forfeited when an account closes.

The terms add arbitration in Dubai, a waiver of class actions, and liability capped at what you paid. In practice, the free tier is your only trial.

Which AI models does Overchat Pro include?

The Pro card on the pricing page lists GPT-4o mini and DeepSeek V4 as basic models, then GPT-5.5, Claude 4.6 Sonnet, Claude 4.8 Opus, Gemini 3.7, Llama 4, Mistral and Grok-4.5 as advanced ones. For images it lists GPT-Image-2, Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, Flux 2 and Seedream 5.

Other parts of the same site list other versions:

• The site footer: GPT-5.6, Claude Sonnet 5, Claude Opus 5 and Claude Fable 5.
• The web app’s model menu: GPT-6 Luna, GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Astra and Claude Opus 5.5. The box under “GPT-6 Luna” reads “Ask GPT-5.6 Luna anything”.
• The “About Overchat AI” block in the footer: GPT-5, Claude Opus 4.7, Gemini 3.1 and Grok 4.1.
• The ChatGPT-versus-Overchat table on the homepage and pricing page still shows GPT 3.5, o1-preview, Claude 3.5 Sonnet and Gemini 1.5 Pro.

Some of this is ordinary lag in marketing copy. Taken together with a free chat that believes GPT-4 is current, it means you should not buy Pro for one specific model. Check the in-app model menu on the free tier first, and assume the pricing card may be out of date.

Is Overchat AI safe?

Overchat is a real registered company with apps in both major stores, so it is not a scam in the sense of taking money and delivering nothing. Whether it is safe for your data is a different question, and its marketing and its privacy policy answer it differently.

The privacy policy never says what happens to the text of your chats: how long it is kept, or which AI providers receive it. Account deletion works only by emailing hello@overchat.ai.

The policy also reads unfinished. Its four regional links (Cookie Policy, GDPR, CCPA and LGPD) are printed as the placeholder “(LINK)”, sections 10 and 11 appear twice, and it ends with a line that looks like leftover AI chat output: “Let me know if further customization is required!”

Age limits disagree too. The terms and privacy policy set a minimum age of 16, the iOS app is rated 9+, and the tool list includes an AI kissing generator, an AI bikini video generator and a “freaky text generator”.

My reading: fine for homework questions and image experiments, not for client documents, contracts or anything personal. The Docs section invites you to upload bank statements, paystubs and leases, and the policy gives no written commitment about what happens to them.

Why are Overchat AI reviews so mixed?

Partly because the ratings Overchat quotes are not the ratings the platforms show.

Trustpilot also notes that Overchat has not invited reviews recently, and that it replied to 84% of negative reviews.

The negative reviews from July to September 2026 repeat a few themes:

• Paid generations that never arrive. “Stuck on rendering for 20 minutes and then says Failed to render” (19 September), and a paid photo that produced no image (2 August).
• Paid results that are wrong with no way to fix them. The $2.99 photo edit that added one person and removed another, with no option to edit or contact anyone (3 September).
• Free tools that turn out to be teasers. A reviewer who signed up for a free scan found most of the result blurred until they paid (28 August). Overchat’s reply did not dispute the paywall; it said the subscription covers a broader range of tools.
• A mobile-first interface on desktop. No standard scrollbars, and several tools broken or erroring (11 September; that reviewer got a refund).
• Answers in the wrong language to questions asked in English (23 July).

The positive reviews mostly praise the one-subscription idea and the image and video models. Nobody in either group mentions the chat quality of a specific named model.

Overchat AI fits casual chat and image use, not work data

Overchat suits:

• Casual users who want to try image and video models such as Nano Banana, Seedream and Kling from one app, and who can live with an unknown chat model.
• Students with quick questions. The logged-out chat got a percentage and a trick question right, and the homework and math tools are part of the free catalogue.
• People who would otherwise pay for three separate subscriptions and will cancel within the year if the model list turns out not to match the pricing card.

Skip it if you:

• Need to know which model answered. The free chat names no version, and the paid model list changes from page to page.
• Handle work, client or personal documents. The policy says nothing about how chats and uploads are stored.
• Want to try Pro and get your money back if it disappoints. One message counts as use.
• Mostly work on a desktop. Overchat’s apps are built phone-first, and the Windows and macOS apps are still “soon”.

Failure cases: when Overchat AI goes wrong

These are the conditions under which Overchat goes wrong, rather than a list of missing features.

• You read “$14.99/week” as the price. Two pages say weekly and two say monthly. If you are billed on the interval you did not expect, the refund policy will not help once you have sent a message.
• You pick a tool from the catalogue expecting a free result. Some tools show a partial result and ask for a one-time payment, and a failed paid generation is handled as “technical error” at Overchat’s discretion.
• You trust a model label. The free chat claims to be ChatGPT with a 2021 or 2023 cutoff on a page that advertises GPT, Claude and Gemini.
• You upload sensitive files to the Docs tools. There is no written retention or provider disclosure for chat content.
• You rely on the ratings on Overchat’s own pages. Both platform ratings it quotes are higher than the platforms show.

Overchat AI alternatives, with prices

If what attracts you is many models under one bill, Poe does the same thing with published prices per message. If you mostly use one model, paying its maker directly tells you exactly what you get.

Trying Overchat AI without getting billed

The free tier is the only trial Overchat offers, so use it before deciding.

1. Start on the Free AI Chat page, logged out. Ask something you can check, like a percentage or a date. If the answer is good enough for your use, you may never need an account.
2. Sign up with an email you do not mind receiving marketing on. The policy allows newsletters and targeted advertising.
3. Open the model menu in the web app and note which models are actually selectable on the free tier. Compare that list with the Pro card before paying.
4. Try one image and one video tool on free credits. Those are the parts reviewers praise, and the parts where paid generations have failed.
5. If you buy, read the checkout screen for the billing period. Look for “week”, “month” or “year” next to $14.99 or $59.99, and screenshot it.
6. Cancel in the same place you paid. On iPhone and Android that means the App Store or Google Play subscription settings, not overchat.ai.

My verdict stays where the table at the top put it. The free chat is a reasonable way to get a quick answer without an account. The paid plan might be good value at $59.99 a year, but I would not pay for it until Overchat’s own pages agree on what it costs, how often it bills and which models it includes.
